Step Out of the Rain

 

I remember a time I laughed so hard, tears of joy ran down my cheeks.

Life was a game I played without risk,

And my dreams were all within my reach.

But now those tears are drops of blood that come from inner pain.

Someone took the sun from my life, and left me standing out in the rain.

And now I'm all alone, standing in the shadows of yesterday.

And I need a friend to take my hand and help me find a way.

Out of this darkness that keeps the light from shining,

and my eyes from finding the love.  I'm wandering in rain.

 

I remember as a child love was free, and flowing like the sands.

When pain was near, I'd cry a tear and I’d take my father's hand.

But I'm older now and life like the clouds, pass from out of my reach.

The Love is gone the sands blown away, and I'm standing alone again.

 

I didn't know what I was doing I didn't know it was wrong.

That's a lie.  I knew it deep down inside of my heart,

but I was willing to die.

I stepped up to the table and I said to let it ride.

The world came up, Christ was gone,

and my heart was filled with pride.

I searched and begged and tried to buy, but I couldn't find a friend.

Then as I turned around to walked away a spark flickered inside.

The flame of love began to burn,  and to shine the light of Christ.
